Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 April 2026
StemDeck is a macOS application for live stem playback, published by Edipko Inc. This Privacy Policy explains what information StemDeck does and does not collect, how we handle the limited information we do receive, and the rights you have over it.
Plain summary first: StemDeck collects almost nothing about you. Your stems, songs, setlists, and configuration live on your Mac. We do not track usage, we do not run analytics, we do not embed third-party SDKs, and we do not transmit the contents of your library anywhere. The detailed disclosures below explain the few exceptions.
1. Information you give us
StemDeck does not require you to create an account with Edipko Inc. The only identity relationship between you and StemDeck is your Apple ID, which is managed entirely by Apple under Apple's Privacy Policy. We never see your Apple ID, your payment method, or your billing details — Apple handles all of that for App Store purchases and subscriptions.
If you contact our support team by email, we receive whatever you choose to send (typically your email address and your description of the issue). We use that solely to reply to you and delete the thread once the issue is resolved.
2. Information StemDeck stores on your Mac
The app stores all of its data locally in your user Application Support folder
(~/Library/Application Support/StemDeck/).
That includes your library JSON, setlist JSON, settings JSON, generated click tracks, and
security-scoped bookmarks pointing at the audio files you imported.
Audio files themselves are read in place from wherever you keep them on disk; StemDeck does not copy them, modify them, or upload them. Removing the app deletes its Application Support folder; your audio files are unaffected.
3. Microphone access
With your explicit permission, StemDeck can record a guide vocal stem from your Mac's microphone or audio input device. Recordings are written to your local library folder and are never transmitted off your Mac. You can revoke microphone access at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone.
4. Local-network remote control
StemDeck includes an optional in-app HTTP server that lets phones, tablets, and other computers on the same Wi-Fi network drive transport (start, stop, loop, song select). The server is OFF by default and requires you to set a PIN before it can be enabled.
When the server is on, it advertises itself over Bonjour (mDNS) on the local network and accepts connections from devices that supply the PIN. No data leaves your local network. We do not see, log, or transmit anything related to those connections.
5. Subscription and purchase information
StemDeck is sold as an auto-renewing subscription through the Mac App Store. Apple processes every purchase, billing event, refund, and cancellation. Apple shares with us only aggregated, anonymised information about subscription activity (e.g. number of active subscribers in a given period). We do not receive your name, email, payment method, or billing address from Apple.
6. Crash reports and diagnostics
If your Mac is configured to share crash and usage data with developers (System Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements → Share with App Developers), Apple may forward anonymised crash reports to us. These are used only to fix bugs and contain no personally identifiable information beyond what Apple's anonymisation produces.
We do not embed any third-party analytics SDKs (Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics, Mixpanel, Segment, or anything similar). The app makes no telemetry network calls of its own.
7. Children's privacy
StemDeck is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you believe a child has interacted with us, please contact us so we can delete anything we may inadvertently hold.
8. Your rights
Because we do not collect personal data, there is generally nothing to access, correct, or delete on our side. Account-level rights (export, deletion, refund) for App Store purchases are handled by Apple via the App Store.
For users in the EU/UK (GDPR/UK GDPR) or California (CCPA), you may contact us at the address below to confirm what we hold; in nearly every case the answer will be: nothing identifiable about you.
9. Changes to this policy
If we materially change how StemDeck handles information, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
